BEAUTY: Burt’s Bees Radiance Night Cream with Royal Jelly
Quite a few of my friends and family use the Burt’s Bees all natural products, but it’s usually just the lip balm or the hand salve – both of which I love. I was really anxious to test out more of their products especially after reading up on their humble beginnings making candles from beeswax.
Roxanne Quimby and Burt Shavitz met by chance by in 1984 and teamed up to create Burt’s bees from Burt’s unused wax from his honey stand. Their journey together carried them very far creating all natural products ranging from tinted lip balm to baby moisturizers. After expanding, they even committed to a policy of sending ZERO waste to landfills at their plant, energy-efficient lighting in their facilities, and they are constantly working hard to include as much post-consumer recycled content as possible in their packaging.
I purchased the Burt’s Bees Radiance Night Cream with Royal Jelly and have been using it for over two months now. It was about $25 and it comes in a little glass jar. It’s a natural, overnight moisturizer made with Royal Jelly (a substance secreted by honey bees which has been shown to produce health benefits in humans), Bee Pollen, and Shea Butter (my favourite). I was initially disappointed with how tiny the jar was, but I have come to realize that I don’t need very much to moisturize my face every night. When I read up on the product online, it says that it is “light-weight”… I’d have to disagree. It’s somewhat thick, but I prefer that for a night cream. I wouldn’t recommend using it if you have oily skin and hate strong smells. I find a lot of people are put off by the scent, but I like it. After my first few weeks of using the night cream, I wasn’t sure if it was even doing anything, but I kept using it every night, like any other loyal all-natural product junkie would.
And it paid off!
My skin feels more moisturized, healthier, and less fine lines and dark spots. I wake up every morning with my skin feeling refreshed and healthy. I don’t want to sound like a dove commercial or anything, but this product really worked for me. I did think it was a bit pricey for such a small jar, but I definitely think I’d buy it again.
Why not try it out and tell me what you think?
